sugo cheese toast

Cheese toast hits every time, even when nothing sounds good. There have been weeks (months?) where it's been an accompaniment to most meals for us, or maybe even a meal to itself. Delicious, comforting, simple - and almost infinitely adjustable based on your bread and cheese choices!Β sugo salt adds just the right amount of seasoning and a zip of complex, peppery flavor to this basic, perfect food.

sugo cheese toast

Ingredients

  • bread (regular, gluten free, up to you!)
  • butter
  • cheese (any type you like, or a mix)
  • sugo salt

Instructions

  1. Lightly toast your bread. You want just enough toasting so the area where you melt the cheese doesn't get soggy. If you fully toast now, you'll end up too toasty later.
  2. Butter the tops of your lightly toasted bread. Top with shredded cheese (use as much or as little as you prefer). I like to place all the butter toasts on a baking sheet, so I can really coat them with cheese and not worry about it melting off the edge in my toaster oven. Plus, this helps the bottoms not get too crunchy while the cheese is melting.
  3. Re-toast or broil until the cheese is melty and the bread is crunchy at the edge. Sprinkle with sugo salt.
