magic asparagus

We know, we know... calling asparagus "magic" seems wild. Unhinged! But get back to us after you try it. Some flavor magic truly happens when the rich butter, verdant asparagus, zesty papi spice, and bright lemon juice all come together.

When we say this is extremely delicious and incredibly crave-able, we mean it. Plus, it's done in 15 minutes (or less, depending how fast you chop) and only requires 4 ingredients. Win, win, win. I've never eaten asparagus so fast in my life.

magic asparagus

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch asparagus
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp papi spice
  • 1.5 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Trim the woody ends off the bottom of the asparagus stalks. Chop the asparagus in bite-sized pieces (1-1.5" long).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter, then add the asparagus.
  3. Once it starts to sizzle, season with 2 tsp papi spice and mix to coat.
  4. Cook for 7-12 minutes, stirring every few minutes. The amount of time it takes depends on the width of your asparagus stalks and how you like it cooked. For the slim stalks in the photos, 7 minutes will get you al dente, 10 minutes will be softer. If your asparagus is thicker, cook a few minutes longer. Don't be afraid to taste and see what you think of the texture! You can always cook it longer.
  5. Turn of the heat. Top with 1.5 tsp lemon juice and mix to coat.
