onion and pepper beef

It is pretty much what it sounds like... ground beef cooked with sauteed onions and seasoned with lots of zippy putz pepper. But this simple dish packs a ton of indulgent savory flavor, almost like a patty melt or cheesesteak, without all the less healthy parts. This protein is great with greens, over rice, in a buddha bowl, or alongside cooked or fresh veggies - we especially like it paired with roasted sweet potatoes and zesty arugula.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Slice/dice onion (however you like best). Slicing them will lead to larger, less cooked pieces and less dispersed flavor. Dicing will yield softer onions that are more melded with the meat.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium. Add 1 Tbsp butter. Add onion. Saute for about 10 minutes. If it starts to brown too much, turn the heat down a bit. Move the onions to the side of the pan.
  3. Increase heat to medium or higher. Add the ground beef. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 tsp cc special and 3/4 tsp putz pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes, until meat and onions are browned.
