spicy umami chicken

Amazing on its own, or anywhere you'd use chicken! spicy umami chicken is full of complex, peppery, deep flavor that satisfies your tastebuds while providing an array of micronutrients from the complex spice blends. One of our new favorite ways to get our protein.

The instruction below are for thighs, breasts, wings, or ground chicken. However, this would work for a whole chicken! Just coat all over in an equal ratio of veggie umami and sugo salt, then roast as you normally would. If you are plant-based, use your favorite plant-based alternative.

spicy umami chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken (we used thighs that we cut in to bite-size pieces for this photo, but use whole thighs, breasts, wings, or ground)
  • 1 1/2 tsp veggie umami
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugo salt
  • cooking fat

Instructions

  1. Cut up the chicken, if desired. Coat whole or cut chicken all over in 1 1/2 tsp veggie umami and 1 1/2 tsp sugo salt.
  2. Cook as desired - skillet or air fryer are our recommendations! Follow below for skillet instructions, our go-to.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add about 1 Tbsp of a high heat safe oil (beef tallow, ghee, etc...), then add the chicken.
  4. Cook on one side for 4-6 minutes if cut up, or 6-8 minutes if whole thighs or breasts.
  5. Turn over and cook on the other side until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 F, about another 5-8 minutes.
